Fungus gnats are tiny, dark, long-legged flies that hang around houseplants. They’re 2 to 8 mm long and often mistaken for fruit flies.
They breed in damp soil and feed on fungus and decaying roots. Overwatered plants are the usual cause, and the larvae can damage seedlings and young roots.
Pest Boss handles fungus gnat control across Burnaby. We treat the soil and help you break their breeding cycle.
Give Pest Boss a call if you’re seeing any of these:
- Small dark flies around houseplants
- Gnats flying up when you water plants
- Tiny clear larvae in the top layer of soil
Flies around fruit or drains instead? See fruit flies and phorid flies.
